Little Sahara is 70 miles southwest of Provo, Utah. There are 124 square miles of sand dunes including Sand Mountain. It's a very popular place to ride four wheelers, dirt bikes, and dune buggies, but for the poor college student it can also be enjoyed on a board or sled. Make sure you check out the video below.
You want a board that is big and heavy. I've used a kneeboard before as well as a wakeboard and they both work great. I imagine a snowboard would also work well and the sand is fine enough to where it wouldn't scratch the board at all.
Starting the hike up Sand Mountain.
The steepest dunes are to the right, out of the picture.

The toboggan slid better on the sand than our skim board and snow skate.

Directions to Little Sahara: Take I-15 to exit 244 and take US-6 west toward Santaquin/Delta. Take US-6 39 miles, and turn right following the signs to Little Sahara Sand Dunes. Turn left after 4.5 miles, again following the signs to Little Sahara. It is a fee area but when we went the booth was closed and there was a sign saying to continue on. To get to Sand Mountain, continue straight until you see Sand Mountain, then turn left toward it and follow the road over there.
